Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026
One Year Fast (“we”, “us”) publishes oneyearfast.com, a personal record of a 52-week fasting experiment. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions can go to oneyearfastproject@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Email address. If you subscribe to updates, we store the email address you submit so we can send occasional posts about the experiment. Nothing else is required, and we do not sell or rent that address.
Usage data. Like most websites, we receive standard technical information when you visit: pages viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and time of visit.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, payment details, or any health information about you. The biomarker data published on this site is the author’s own.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for two purposes: basic analytics (understanding which articles people read) and advertising.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. The site remains fully readable with cookies disabled.
Advertising
We use third-party advertising partners, including Google, to display ads on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic. It sets cookies and processes IP addresses to produce anonymised reports. You can prevent this with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See Google’s privacy policy for how it handles that data.
Third-party embeds
Some pages embed YouTube videos. When a video loads, YouTube may set cookies and record playback data under its own privacy policy. Links to external sites (including research databases such as PubMed) are governed by those sites’ policies, not ours.
How long we keep data
Newsletter emails are kept until you ask to be removed. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. Server logs are short-lived.
Your rights
You can ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including unsubscribing and having your email address erased. Email oneyearfastproject@gmail.com and we will action it. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Fasting is not appropriate for children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
