Day 64 — AI, Spirituality: Will Hyperintelligent Machines Worship a Divinity?

Welcome to Day 64 of the One Year Fast. Following up on our exploration of James Lovelock’s The Novacene, today’s discussion dives into the philosophical question: If self-generating, hyperintelligent cyborgs and robots become Earth’s dominant form of intelligence, will they ever develop spirituality, formulate a religion, or conceptualize their own Divinity?

Throughout human history, conscious intelligence and the search for meaning have walked hand in hand with mythology, reverence, and spiritual frameworks. As machine consciousness evolves within the self-regulating system of Gaia, would hyperintelligent beings construct abstract metaphysical beliefs—and what might a "Machine God" look like?

Hashtags

  • Consciousness & Spirituality: Can non-biological hyperintelligence experience the transcendent?
  • Formulating a Religion: Why intelligent systems might develop rituals, reverence, and sacred dogmas.
  • The Machine God: Would cyborgs worship human creators, the laws of the cosmos, or a new digital divinity?
  • Gaia & Cosmic Purpose: Connecting Lovelock’s Novacene to the spiritual evolution of planetary intelligence.
  • Fasting Protocol Check-In: Day 64 mental clarity and fasting updates.

Day 65 — 7 Prime Ministers in 10 Years: The UK General Election Debacle

Welcome to Day 65 of the One Year Fast. Today, I’m taking a critical look at the unprecedented revolving door in British politics over the last decade (2016–2026). In just ten years, the United Kingdom has seen seven Prime Ministers—yet only three ever achieved a direct general election mandate as sitting PM.

From Cameron and May through Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer, and Burnham, we examine how internal party machinations, mid-term resignations, and shifting leaderships have impacted democratic accountability—and why the British public deserves stability and true electoral mandates.

Hashtags

  • David Cameron (2010–2016): General Election Mandate (2015)
  • Theresa May (2016–2019): Took office without a mandate; called 2017 election resulting in a hung parliament
  • Boris Johnson (2019–2022): Took office via party leadership contest; secured general election mandate in 2019
  • Liz Truss (2022): Took office without a general election mandate
  • Rishi Sunak (2022–2024): Took office without a general election mandate; contested 2024 general election
  • Keir Starmer (2024–2026): General Election Mandate (2024)
  • Andy Burnham (2026–Present): Assumed leadership without a general election mandate
  • The Mandate Question: The difference between a parliamentary system and direct democratic legitimacy.
  • Turnover & Instability: What rapid succession does to policy continuity and public trust.
  • Democratic Accountability: The growing demand for systemic reform when leaders change without a public vote.
  • Fasting Protocol Check-In: Day 65 mental clarity and overall protocol updates.

Welcome to Day 66 of the One Year Fast. In today’s episode, we delve into one of English football’s most legendary and hotly debated triumphs—England’s 1966 World Cup victory—and explore the enduring club debate: Who really won the World Cup for England?

Was it West Ham United, led by iconic captain Bobby Moore, hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst, and Martin Peters? Or was the foundation laid by Manchester United with key figures like Bobby Charlton, the tireless Nobby Stiles, and squad winger John Connelly?

Stick around until the end of the video, where I break down my hearty, nutrient-dense medieval vegetable pottage recipe—crafted to fuel fasting windows and refeeds for under $10 a day—complete with full dish photos!

Hashtags

  • The 1966 World Cup Legend: Reliving England’s finest footballing hour at Wembley.
  • The West Ham Claim: Moore, Hurst, and Peters—the Hammers who supplied the goals and lifted the Jules Rimet trophy.
  • The Manchester United / Northern Core: The grit and genius of Charlton, Stiles, Connelly, and team structure.
  • Pottage for Under $10/Day: Simple, cost-effective, nutrient-packed ingredients for optimal health.

Day 67 — Does Toothpaste Break a Fast? (Ketosis, Autophagy & US vs UK Teeth)

Welcome to Day 67 of the One Year Fast. Today, we’re tackling one of the most common—and surprisingly debated—practical questions in the fasting community: Can you brush your teeth and use toothpaste during a fast, or does it break your metabolic state?

We also take a cultural and practical look at the differences between US vs UK dental care—from cosmetic expectations and fluoride standards to NHS vs private models.

Do Toothpaste Ingredients Have Calories? While ingredients like glycerin, sorbitol, and xylitol technically have caloric value, the amounts used are miniscule. Because toothpaste is spat out and not swallowed, it provides no meaningful energy to the body.

Does It Break Ketosis or Autophagy? Brushing does not raise blood sugar, trigger an insulin response, halt fat burning (lipolysis), or stop autophagy.

Aesthetic ideals (Hollywood white/alignment) vs functional oral health focus.

NHS access, private tiers, and cost structures compared to US dental insurance plans.

Preventive hygiene visits, dental hygienist roles, and long-term care philosophies.

Hashtags

  • Fasting & Toothpaste: The Science Breakdown
  • Dealing with "Keto Breath" & Coated Tongue: Extended fasting increases ketone bodies like acetone, which can cause fruity or metallic breath. Brushing, using a tongue scraper, and rinsing with alcohol-free mouthwash are completely safe and highly encouraged.
  • Accidental Swallowing: Swallowing a tiny trace amount won't disrupt your fast or metabolic benefits.

Day 68 — Fasting Feeds the Soul: Why Penance & Voluntary Hunger Transform Us

Welcome to Day 68 of the One Year Fast. Modern fasting is usually discussed strictly in clinical terms—ketones, autophagy, insulin sensitivity, and fat burning. But long before these scientific terms existed, humanity turned to fasting for a much deeper reason: penance, humility, and spiritual transformation.

Today, we explore why fasting is not merely dieting. While a diet asks “What should I eat?” and a metabolic fast asks “Can I choose not to eat?”, penance asks: “Can voluntarily giving something up change the way I think, behave, and relate to the world?”

Voluntary Restraint vs. Involuntary Deprivation: The crucial distinction between lacking food and intentionally choosing to abstain when food is abundant.

Penance vs. Punishment: Why true penance is not about inflicting pain or self-harm, but about intentional sacrifice, humility, and an inward turn toward positive transformation.

Hashtags

  • The Cycle of Restraint: How encountering hunger creates a conscious cycle: Desire → Awareness → Restraint → Reflection.
  • Interrupting Modern Consumer Culture: How saying “no” to constant consumption creates space to ask “What can I live without?”
  • Gratitude & Charity: How abstaining restores profound appreciation for simple nourishment and shifts focus outward toward helping others.

Day 69 — When Profit Comes Before Health: How the US Food Chain Fails You

Welcome to Day 69 of the One Year Fast. Today, I break down the core mechanics of the One Year Fast protocol—fasting three full days per week for 52 consecutive weeks—and tackle a critical issue affecting millions: how the modern corporate food chain prioritizes profit over public health.

Food has always been a business, but over the past century, industrial processing has transformed simple agricultural goods into engineered products optimized for shelf life, hyper-palatability, and repeat purchases rather than human nourishment.

When immediate quarterly profits clash with long-term metabolic health, who pays the ultimate price?

Hashtags

  • From Farm to Factory: How whole ingredients are stripped, emulsified, and rebuilt with refined oils, sugars, and preservatives to maximize margins and shelf life.
  • The Incentive Misalignment: Companies measure success by quarterly sales, market share, and immediate revenue; the negative health consequences of poor nutrition take decades to manifest.
  • The Power of Big Food: How vast marketing budgets, food science labs, and regulatory influence shape consumer habits toward hyper-processed convenience.
  • The Hidden Cost: Cheap, ultra-processed food might look affordable at the supermarket checkout, but the true bill arrives later in chronic illness, healthcare costs, and diminished quality of life.
  • Structure: Fasting 3 non-consecutive days each week across 52 weeks.
  • Hydration & Electrolytes: Maintaining sodium, potassium, and magnesium balances during fasting windows.
  • Refueling Wisely: Prioritizing nutrient-dense, whole-food nourishment between fasts to counter industrial food traps.

Day 70 — Fasting + Sleep: The Ultimate Deep Repair Synergy

Welcome to Day 70 of the One Year Fast. Today, we delve into one of the most powerful natural recovery pairings in human biology: how fasting and sleep work together to unlock cellular repair, autophagy, restoration, and systemic renewal.

When your body isn't allocating vast amounts of metabolic energy toward continuous digestion, deeper restorative processes take over during rest. We explore the bidirectional relationship between circadian rhythms, sleep architecture (REM vs. deep sleep), growth hormone pulses, and ketone production—and how optimizing both sleep and fasting accelerates overall healing.

Next Week's Fasting Protocol & Refeed Experiment

After testing all three refeeds, I’ll share my full review and breakdown of the best smoothie combinations to break a 24-hour fast comfortably without digestive distress or blood sugar spikes!

Key Discussion Points

Hashtags

  • Fast #1 Break: Avocado, Pineapple & Spinach (healthy fats, digestive enzymes & micronutrient greens)
  • Fast #2 Break: Watermelon, Cucumber & Basil (rapid hydration, cooling electrolytes & clean botanical antioxidants)
  • Fast #3 Break: Blueberry & Banana Oat (sustained fiber, polyphenol power & complex carbohydrates)
  • The Fasting-Sleep Synergy: How abstaining from late-night eating lowers core body temperature, resting heart rate, and enhances sleep quality.
  • Autophagy & Nightly Repair: Why nighttime metabolic down-regulation accelerates cellular cleanup and tissue recovery.
  • Hormonal Balance: The relationship between fasting, nighttime Human Growth Hormone (HGH) release, and cortisol control.
  • Refeed Strategy: Why nutrient density, hydration, and gentle macronutrient combinations matter when ending a 24-hour window.
